The Josephite Ark gathers two kinds of material:
Public-domain works. The Scriptures, catechisms, writings of the Fathers and Doctors, and classic devotions carried here are in the public domain. They belong to everyone; we claim no ownership of them and place no restriction on their use.
Our original work. The original writing, commentary, site design, code, name, and logo of The Josephite Ark are © 2026 The Josephite Ark. In the spirit of the mission, our original writings are offered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, so you may share and build on them freely, with attribution. The name and logo are protected as trademarks (see below) and are not covered by that license.
"The Josephite Ark"™ and the Ark logo are trademarks of The Josephite Ark. Nothing here grants a right to use the name or logo in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without written permission.
The Josephite Ark is an independent lay initiative. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the Catholic Church, the Holy See, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), any diocese, religious order, or any official body of the Church — including the Josephites / St. Joseph's Society of the Sacred Heart. References to Church teaching are provided for study only.
Everything on this site is offered as a study and devotional aid. It is not the teaching authority of the Church and does not replace it. For any matter touching doctrine, conscience, the sacraments, or the moral life, consult a priest and the Magisterium.
The chat guide is an automated tool that helps you locate and understand texts in the library. It can be wrong, incomplete, or miss context, and it is not a priest, spiritual director, or authority of any kind. Do not rely on it for doctrinal, moral, medical, legal, or financial decisions. Verify anything important against the source texts and a competent authority. Conversation-mode replies are explicitly non-authoritative.
Some materials (for example, guidance on emergency baptism, assisting the dying, or preparedness) are provided for informational and educational purposes only. They are not professional medical, psychological, legal, or safety advice. In a real emergency, seek a priest, qualified medical help, or the appropriate authorities without delay. You act on this information at your own discretion and risk.
By using this site you agree to these terms. You may read, download, and share the public-domain and openly-licensed materials for lawful purposes consistent with their licenses. You agree not to use the site to break the law, to misrepresent the Faith, or to harm others. The site and its contents are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Josephite Ark is not liable for any damages arising from use of the site or its materials. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
We aim to collect as little as possible.
What you are paying for. The texts of the Ark are, and always will be, free to download. When you buy a flash-drive Ark or a delivery package, you are paying only for the physical medium, the labor of preparing it, packaging, and shipping — never for the Word of God, which is not for sale. A free download option is always available.
Shipping & refunds: shipping timeframes and regions are shown at checkout. If a drive arrives defective, contact us at joseph@thejosephiteark.com within 30 days for a replacement or a refund of the purchase price.
Free drives: a limited number of free flash-drive Arks are offered each month, subject to availability, at our discretion, to those who request them.
We carry only public-domain or openly-licensed material and respect the rights of others. If you believe something here infringes your rights, contact joseph@thejosephiteark.com with the work, its location on the site, and your contact details, and we will review and, where appropriate, promptly remove it.
